When a restaurant worker gets cancer, the bills don't wait. So we pay them.

Rent, treatment, groceries. Whatever keeps the lights on while a restaurant family fights. That's been the entire job since the foundation started in 2020.

WHY WE DO THIS

Restaurant work doesn't come with a cushion.

When a line cook gets a diagnosis, or a pitmaster's wife does, the bills don't wait for the shift to end. Zavala's Bash started in Joe's backyard in 2017, years before his own battle with cancer. The foundation followed in 2020, when we started raising money, and six years later helping those families is still the entire job.

PRIVATE EVENT · BY INVITATION

One night of barbecue and Texas country, for the families.

Zavala's Bash began in the backyard of Zavala's Barbecue in 2017 as a thank-you to family and friends, and grew into the foundation's biggest fundraiser. It's a private night, never advertised. Last year it raised $48,355, every dollar of profit for families in treatment.
